1610 Cornelis Evertsen the Elder (4 August 1610 â 11 June 1666) was a Dutch admiral.
1818 Lovell Harrison Rousseau (August 4, 1818 â January 7, 1869) was a general in the Union Army during the American Civil War, as well as a lawyer and politician in Kentucky and Indiana.
1848 Vladimir Aleksandrovich Sukhomlinov (O.S. 4 August 1848 â 2 February 1926) was a Russian general of the Imperial Russian Army who served as the Chief of the General Staff from 1908 to 1909 and the Minister of War from 1909 to 1915.
1873 Dámaso Berenguer y Fusté, 1st Count of Xauen (4 August 1873 â 19 May 1953) was a Spanish general and politician. He served as Prime Minister during the last rales of the reign of Alfonso XIII. Berenguer was born in San Juan de los Remedios, Cuba, while the island was a Spanish administrative division. He enlisted in the army in 1889, served in Cuba and Morocco.
1880 Thomas Ludwig Werner Freiherr von Fritsch (4 August 1880 â 22 September 1939) was a member of the German High Command. He was Commander-in-Chief of the German Army from February 1934 until February 1938, when he was forced to resign after he was falsely accused of being homosexual. His ousting was a major step in Adolf Hitler’s establishment of tighter control over the armed forces. Just over a year later, before the outbreak of World War II, Fritsch was recalled as Colonel-in-chief of the 12th Artillery Regiment. He died in battle in Poland early in the war.
1981 Jennifer Marshall (August 4, 1981) served in the United States Navy from the age of 17 to 22, honorably separating as a second class petty officer (E-5). During her time in the Navy, she worked as an aircraft handler, forklift operator, logistics specialist, and also worked on the ships aft repair locker fire team and security defense force.
