1412 Ludovico III Gonzaga of Mantua, also spelled Lodovico (also Ludovico II; 5 June 1412 â 12 June 1478) was the ruler of the Italian city of Mantua from 1444 to his death in 1478. Ludovico followed the path of his father, Gianfrancesco, fighting as a condottiero from as early as 1432, when Gianfrancesco was vice-commander of Francesco Bussone’s army.
1771 Willem Frederik count of Bylandt or Bijlandt (5 June 1771 â 25 October 1855) was a Dutch lieutenant-general who as a major-general commanded a Belgian-Dutch infantry brigade at the Battle of Quatre Bras and the Battle of Waterloo.
1827 Beverly Holcombe Robertson (June 5, 1827 â December 12, 1910) was a cavalry officer in the United States Army on the Western frontier and a Confederate States Army general during the American Civil War.
1831 Marcus Joseph Wright (June 5, 1831 â December 27, 1922) was a lawyer, author, and a Confederate general in the American Civil War. He was agent for collection of Confederate records for War of the Rebellion: Official Records of the Union and Confederate Armies, a U.S. War Department publication.
1823 José Doroteo Arango Arámbula (5 June 1878 â 20 July 1923) â better known by his pseudonym Francisco Villa or his nickname Pancho Villa â was one of the most prominent Mexican Revolutionary generals. As commander of the División del Norte, he was the veritable caudillo of the northern Mexican state of Chihuahua, which, given its size, mineral wealth, and proximity to the United States, provided him with extensive resources.
1906 Brigadier John Durival Kemp, 1st Viscount Rochdale OBE, TD, DL (5 June 1906 â 24 May 1993), was a British peer, soldier and businessman. Kemp served in the Second World War with U.S. Forces in the Pacific and with the British Army in India, where he was mentioned in despatches, and achieved the rank of Brigadier.
