One of the themes you can see at the society is how technology impacts warfare.
Our display of the Army’s main battle rifles show weapons from the revolution through the modern era. You can view flintlocks, cap and ball muskets and rifles, early single shot cartridge rifles, and finally semi automatic, magazine fed weapons.

In our artillery display you can see the advance in the type of shot used to engage the enemy as well as smooth bore and rifled cannons. You can learn how this helped the Union artillery at Gettysburg.

Finally, our naval model collection spans the age of sail, to the first ironclad vessels to WW2 era battleships. You can see early and late conflict WW2 battleships side by side and the comparison of each ships technology and how it was utilized to keep up with the current tactics of the day.
