Patrick Henry “Paddy” O’Rorke (March 25, 1837 â July 2, 1863) was an Irish-American immigrant who became a colonel of the 140th New York Volunteer Infantry in the Union Army during the American Civil War and was killed at the Battle of Gettysburg.
David Hochstein (February 16, 1892 â October 1918) was an American virtuoso violinist from Rochester, New York. After enlisting in the United States Army during World War I, he was killed during the Meuse-Argonne Offensive. In his honor, a music school was started in Rochester, and it now bears the name Hochstein School of Music & Dance.
Norman served as a Second Lieutenant and Pilot on B-24J (#42-110107 – ” Wham! Bam! Thank You ,Ma’m “), 854th Bomber Squadron, 491st Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.He was “Killed In Action” when he, and five other crew members, were executed by a German air-raid warden in Russelsheim, Germany on 26 August 1944.
Donald Walter Holleder (August 3, 1934 â October 17, 1967) was an American college football star while attending the United States Military Academy and later assistant football coach for the United States Military Academy, who was later killed in the Vietnam War.
Marine Staff Sgt. Javier O. Ortiz Rivera, 26, of Rochester, N.Y.; assigned to 1st Battalion, 8th Marines, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.; died Nov. 16 while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan.
