Gary Beikirch, 74, died Sunday 26 December 2021 following a battle with pancreatic cancer.
Beikirch served as a green beret in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Medal of Honor in 1973 for his actions as a combat medic during the Battle at Dak Seang in April 1970, when he was injured by a mortar shell, yet continued to treat fallen soldiers in the middle of fire.
Earlier this year, the area near the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and Future War on Terror Memorial in Rochester, NY was named in his honor Gary Beikirch Memorial Park.
A great and humble man, he will be missed.
