Peter DuPre, a Rochesterian, a World War II veteran, known as âHarmonica Peteâ for playing the National Anthem at sporting events across the country and around the world, died Tuesday, 18 January 2022. DuPre was 98 years old.
He made performances at the National Anthem at Madison Square Garden for the NBAâs Hoops for Troops night and other sporting events. But perhaps his biggest claim to fame was his performance ahead of a U.S. Womenâs World Cup soccer match that solidified his reputation as âHarmonica Pete.â
DuPre served as an army combat medic during World War II and was a veteran of the Battle of the Bulge.
