Selden Motor Truck Sales Corporation – Made in Rochester
George B. Selden held the first patent for a motorcar, having filed it on 8 May 1879. He lent his name to the Selden Motor Vehicle Company if Rochester in 1907 and it would manufacture motor cars until 1914. He died in Rochester on 17 January 1922 at the age of 77.
The Selden Motor Truck Company produced trucks from 1913 – 1930. During World War One they produced over 1,000 Liberty trucks. A quote from a 1919 advertisement states âShipload after shipload of SELDEN TRUCKS was transported overseas â to England, to France, to Italy, to Russia, to Japan â and mile after mile of SELDEN TRUCKS were driven overland to army camps and industrial plants in this country.â Selden also produced ambulances for the War effort. One of many great Rochester companies!
