This model of the USS Langley is over 6 ft. long and is on display at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum (The Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center), Located as the Washington Dulles International Airport. Constructed from scratch by Bill Emerson, master ship builder, from Rochester, NY, it was a 5 year project. Built between 2010 and 2015, the attention to detail is remarkable. Bill, a retired Xerox engineer and a member of the Model Shipwright Guild of Western NY, has been building model since he was in his teens. His models can be seen in 14 national museums across the country. There are currently four on display at the Military History Society of Rochester located in Rochester, NY. It is well worth a visit to view the mastery of his model making.
